Sociologist

Soledad Balerdi

I hold a degree in Sociology from the National University of La Plata (UNLP), Argentina, and a Joint Ph.D. in Social Sciences / Sociology from the UNLP and the University of Antwerp (Belgium). I had doctoral and postdoctoral fellowships from the National Council of Scientific Research in Argentina, and I am currently an Assistant Professor of Epistemology and Methodology in Social Sciences at the UNLP, and a researcher at the Instituto de Investigaciones en Humanidades y Ciencias Sociales (Research Institute in Humanities and Social Sciences), from the same university. My research focuses on inequalities, urban conflicts and informal housing. I recently published the book “Las redes del habitat. Demandas colectivas y conflictos urbanos” (Habitat networks. Collective claims and urban conflicts).
Doing global sociology for me means thinking beyond traditional national and academic boundaries, and searching collective ways of creating transregional and comparative sociological theories
